The Annual Village Meeting - sometimes referred to as the Annual Meeting of Electors, or the Annual Parish Meeting - is an opportunity for the residents of the Parish to discuss issues of common interest.
The Annual Village Meeting - Tuesday 7pm
This year’s meeting will include a session on preparing for and responding to emergencies. For Batheaston, that means floods for most of us, but of course it can be other types of serious incident that disrupt everyday life (I hesitate to mention Covid!).
The session will be led by staff from B&NES’ Emergency Response Team, who will outline what can be done - by a community team, other organisations and individuals - to be prepared for emergencies and to work together, with first-responders, to minimise the impact on us.
We’ll spend a few minutes starting to put our plan together - what are the risks, what resources do we have, where are the places of safety? And there’ll be quick game of emergency bingo!
The meeting will then feature brief updates from: the Parish Council, Youth Club and Church; and news about the “Batheaston Sports Foundation”, the plans for the Church of the Good Shepherd, and the “Energy in your Community” project.
We’ll finish with questions and a general discussion.
The meeting is at the New Village Hall, next Tuesday (24th), from 7pm-9pm - everyone is welcome!
The next meeting is on Tuesday 25th March 2025, at 7:00pm in the New Village Hall on School Lane.
