Bath Astronomers talk - The Skies Above Somerset

The Skies above Somerset

A talk on Tuesday 30th September at 7.15pm at Batheaston Village Hall

Free admission to those that register.

Join local astronomer Simon Holbeche for an inspiring journey through the day and night skies that stretch over our towns, villages and countryside. From sunrise to starlight, you’ll discover what’s happening above Somerset’s gardens, fields, and hills - and how to spot it for yourself.

With striking images captured right here in the South West, Simon will share the stories behind celestial events, along with practical tips to help you enjoy then in the future - whether you’re using nothing more than your eyes, your phone or a small telescope. Perfect for anyone who’s ever paused mid-walk or stood at the back door captivated by the moon, planets, or the twinkling stars, this talk will open your eyes to the wonders you’ve been living under all along.

Simon, chair of Bath Astronomers, and a STEM outreach ambassador for local schools, has been stargazing since the age of nine - meaning he brings decades of experience, a passion for the cosmos, and a knack for making the universe feel close to home.

Doors Open at 7.05pm. Duration of the talk will be 45 minutes before questions.
