Twinning Weekend

Batheaston was twinned with the Loire Valley village of Oudon in 2005. Oudon is on the North bank of the Loire River close to Nantes and has a population similar in size to Batheaston

The main events for the two villages are alternate annual visits in early summer to each other’s village, staying in each other’s houses and taking part in communal and individual activities.

This year it is our term to host and we have a weekend of activities planned - The main event open to the public is an evening of music and fun on Sunday 13 from 6.30pm in Batheaston New Village Hall. As a commemoration of the 20th anniversary visit which coincides with the storming of the Bastille, our French visitors will be invited to re-enact the destruction of the Bastille by devouring a large Cake in the shape of the Bastille. The English can assist . Music will be provided by Gemms and dancing will be encouraged.
